Fath, Charles (p. 20)
Charles Fath was born 20 October 1837 in Germany, the son of Christian and Rosina (Kaiser ) Fath, who were born and married in Germany. They emigrated to the United States in 1846 and first settled at Buffalo, N.Y. They came to Louisa Co. in 1854. The mother d. in 1873. They had the following children: George d. 1910; Christian, d. age 37; Rosina m. Fed Kreiner of Louisa Co.; Sarah m. John Keck of Joy, Ill.; Charles; Jacob; Madgeline m. Mathias Bissinger; and Sophia of Council Bluffs, Ia.
On the 18 September 1861, Charles Fath m. Charlotte Dollarhide, who was born in Wapello on the 22 February 1845, the daughter of Austin and Maery (Bedwell) Dollarhide, natives of Kentucky, coming to Louisa Co. in the 1840's . Mrs. Dollarhide d. in 1845, following which Mr. Dollarhide enlisted and went to the front in the Mexican War and never returned. They only had two children: jane who d. in 1906, the wife of Thomas Allen of Fairfield, Ia; and Charlotte.
Mr. and Mrs. Fath had six children: Emma d. 16 December 1910 at the age of 38, wife of Howard Marshall, of Gunnison Co., Colorado; Ida b. June 1867, m. Howard Leyda, a printer, of Chicago; Leroy A. b. 22 February 1880; and Guy M. b. 25 April 1883.
Foster
Foster, Solomon D. (p. 329)
Solomon D. Foster was born in Concord Twp., Louisa Co., Iowa on the 5 July 1865, the son of Harrison and Sarah (Reynolds) Foster, both natives of Ohio, where they were married and shortly thereafter came to Louisa Co. The father died in 1868, the mother in 1900. There were eight children in the family. The others were: May; Marion; Lydia d. 1907, m. James Henderson; Fannie m. Samuel Bushong; Jane m. Thomas Cross; Henry H.; and A. Jackson.
In September, 1890, Solomon D. Foster married Hattie V. Files, who was born in Johnson Co. in July 1869, the daughter of James M. and Mary (Bowman) Files. T he parents were both natives of Ohio, but were married in Johnson Co.. There were eight children in the Files family, namely: Hattie V. (above); Charley; Estella; Myrtle; Ray; Wayne; Leo; and Blanche who d. age 4 months. Mr. and Mrs. Foster also had eight children: Myrtle b. 10 August 1891; Jesse M. b. 7 June 1893; Audrey E. b. 15 February 1895; Cecil H. b. 9 Novmeber 1898; Fern I. b. 30 July 1900; Herald W. b. 14 June 1906 and Carl E. b. 28 August 1908.
Fox
Fox, David (p. 332)
David Fox was born in southern Canada on 22 December 1846, the son of Charles and Hannah (Lefler) Fox who moved to Rock Island Co., Illinois in 1846. The father d. 1866 and the mother in 1879. They had eleven children: Mary; John k. in Civil War; Simon E.; Sophie and William who died in infancy; Samuel B.; Frank; Charles; George; Fannie; and David, our subject.
On 1 January 1867, Mr. Fox married Martha Hahn, daughter of John and Serena (Mead) Hahn. Her father was a native of Germany and the mother of Missouri. She was one of thirteen children: Jerry; Anna m. Colman Brayton of Illinois City; Peter; John; William; Robert of Polk Co.;Hiram; Rebecca; Adam and two who died in infancy.
Mr. and Mrs Fox had seven children: Belle, Serena; James; Leonard; Della m. Frank Duncan; Elmer; and Virgie.
Frazier
Frazier, Elliott (p. 42)
Elliot Frazier was born 28 February 1838 in Darke Do, Ohio, the son of Alvis and Martha (Crommel) Frazier. The father a native of N.C. and the mother of Pennsylvania. They moved to Louisa Co. in 1856 where the mother died in 1876. The father died in 1992. There were six children in the family, but only the subject and his sister Mary m. A. Farmer of S.D. survived until 1912.
Mr. Frazier was married on the 12 of May 1870 to Nancy J. Patton, who was born in Indiana in 1840, the daughter of Hsuton and Esther Patton. They had four children: Jessie; Teresa m. J. W. Whitham of Morning Sun; Charles; and Frank.
