McChesney, J. S. (p. 13)

J.S. McChesney was born in Mercer Co., Illinois, 11 May 1856, a son of J.T.S. and Rebecca (Clark) McChesney, the former of which was born in Pennsylvania and the latter in Ireland. The father died 12 December 1869 and the mother in January 1908. There were five children in the family, namely: John T.; Nathan C.; Ruth m. David Stephens; Margaret J. m. Dr. W.W. Nye of Hiawatha, KS; and J.S.

J.S. McChesney married 15 October 1877, to Emily Mallory, daughter of Willard and Jane (Hook) Mallory. There were eight children in the Mallroy family: John B.; Mary m. Edwin Joy, of San Francisco; Edward; Charles; Frank G.; Emily; and William.

Mr. and Mrs. McChesney had two children: Mary m. J.R. Cecil; and Gladys. 

McChesney, J.T. (p. 450)

John T. McChesney was born at New Boston, Mercer Co., Illinois on the 18 December 1842 the son of J.T.S. and Rebecca (Clark) McChesney. He married the 16th of August, 1863 to Anna Collins, daughter of John and Mary Ann Collins. The parents were both born in Ireland and died when their daughter was quite young. She had one brother Thomas and a sister, Emma m. Edward McCormick of New York. 


McClurkin, E.L. (p.7)

Edward Logan McClurkin was born 20 August 1857,the son of Henry and Nancy J. (Logan) McClurkin, the father a native of Ohio and the mother of Indiana. T he came to Morning Sun in1855, where the father was engaged in the mercantile business and became the postmaster:  They had seven children: Margaret, m. R.M. Pomery; E.L, our subject; William H.; Martin L.; Nora, and one died in infancy.

He married 10 November 1881 to Cassie A. Beck, daughter of Conrad and Sophia Beck, natives of Germany, for many years residents of Des Moines Co. Unto Mr. and Mrs. McClurkin were born the following children: Oak B.; Elizabeth Jane, m. F.C. Selzer, of Detroit,Michigan; Cliffard H.; and Justus Logan. 


McCormick, E.R. (p.318)

Edwin R. McCormiock was born in Columbus city in 1879, the son of William M. McCormick and Lizzie D. (Reiner) McCormick. The father was born in Harrison Co.,Ohio, and his mother was of Quaker belief, and tracing her ancestor back to the Prince of Wales. Lizzie D. Reiner was bron in Washington Co., Iowa the daguhter of John F. and Harriet (Maxwell) Reiner. She married William M. McCormick in Columbus City and had two sones: Edwin and another son Max J. McCormick.

On 4th March 1903, Edwin R. McCormick m. Elizabeth J. Garrett, a native of Louisa county, daughter of Alexander M. (Dick) and Laura (Dill) Garrett.  Her parents were both natives of Louisa Co. and were married at Fredonia. Her siblings were: Augusta Mae, m. Floyd S. Barnes of Marcus, Iowa; and J. Bertram Garrett.

Mr. and Mrs. Garrett had two young daughters by 1912: Harriet b. December 1904 and Jeanette Laura b. March 1909. 

McCormick, M.J. (p. 452)

M. J. McCormick was born at Columbus Jct in December 1887, the son of William M. and Elizabeth (Runer? see above account)) McCormick. He married 24 December 1910 to Edna H. Baker, born at Nichols, Iowa, the daughter of W.S. and Emma (Smith) Baker, who were born in New York, but were married in Muscatine, Iowa. His first wife died in1905 and in 1910 he again married.  By his first marriage, he had three children: Earl S. of Wichita, KS; Bessie M.,the wife of Dr. T.L. Eland of Letts and Edna H. m. to our subject. 


McCullough, J.B. (p. 100)

John B. McCullough was born 10 April 1828 in Rush Co, Indiana, the son of Simeon and Mary (Sydener) McCullough, who were born in Kentucky in 1794. The mother was born on the 3 May 1794 and had eleven children: William, b. 1816; Andrew; Catherine: Elizabeth; Margaret: James: John B. of this review; Simeon; Mary; Nancy; and Jacob b. 1836.

Mr. McCullough married three times 1) on 30 January 1851, he married Margaret R. Wright, daughter of Silas M. and Annie (Hamiton) Wright. They had four children: Mary m. Reb. U.Z. Gilner of Warren Co., Ill; William W. of Monmouth; Silas S. d. in infancy; and Thomas b. 18 February 1864. Mrs. McCullough d. 13 November 1870, and he married 2) on the 23 October 1872 to Mary I. Davison, by whom he had two children: Roy; and Cora Blanch, who d. 12 August 1887 at the age of six. He lost his second wife on the 3 March 1901 and on the 11 November 1903, he married Alice Thomas, daughter of George F. and Elizabeth Reardon(Minton) Thomas. 

McCullough, R.D. (p. 528)

Roy Davison McCullough was born at Monmouth, Illinois on January 23, 1875, a son of John B. and Mary I. (Davison) McCullough.  He came to Louisa County with his parents at an early age and attended the Wapello schools. He married Edith Springer on the 16 December 1905.  She was the daughter of Arthur Springer, author of the Lousia Co. History. She had three children: Mary E. b. 31 October 1906; John b. January 1908 and Jean b. 20 January 1910. 


McDaniel, J.R. (p. 150)

James R. McDaniel was born in Tennessee on17 June 1828, d. 2 October 1908 in Louisa Co. He was the son of Likens and Nancy (Wallace) McDaniel, also natives of Tennessee. His mother died when he was eighteen months old. He was thirteen years old when he came to Iowa. On 6 February 1856, he married Sarah A. Snodgrass, who was born in Ohio, a daughter of James and Clarissa (McDaniel) Snodgrass, both natives of Virginia.  Her mother died in Fulton Co., Ill and her fahter later moved to Kansas where he died. Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel had three children, all deceased before 1912. 


McDill, G.R. (p. 324)

George R. McDill was born in Louisa County on 20 April1867, the son of Joseph B. and Martha (Ronald) McDill, the former born near Charleston, South Carollina and the latter in Fayette Co., Indiana. The family is of Scotch Irish descent on the paternal side and Scotch on the maternal side the early ancestors settling in Vermont.  The parents of our subject were married in Louisa Co., 2 October 1850. The father died in August 1892. There were six children in the family:  John d. age of 24; Mary Belle, m. Louis Agnew of Pawnee City, Nebraska; William M.; Chalmers R. of Fort Morgan, Co; Florence E. b. 1864 m. William L. Curtis, and d. 1897 and George R., our subject.

Mr. McDill married on the 15 January 1902 to Elizabeth Dodder, daughter of Joseph H. and Margaret (Stineman) Dodder. The father born in New Jersey and the mother in Ohio, but they were married in Iowa. Her mother died 11 April 1901.  There were five children in her family: Edward H.; Ella C. m. John E. McGrew, of Grandview; Elizabeth (above) and Myrtle m. Charles E. Rilliet of Los Angeles, CA.

Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McDill, two of whom died in infancy, the other Margaret Marian b. 14 October 1904. 

McDill, W.M. (p. 180)

William M. McDill was born the 17 May 1858 and was also a son of Joseph B. and Martha (Ronald) McDill. On the 26 April 1890, Mr. McDill married Alice Agnew, who was born in Johnson Co., Iowa on 5 May 1865, a daughter of William J. and Margaret (Whiteford) Agnew. Three children were born to this union: Elizabeth I. b. 28 December 2899; Florence b. 20 February 1901 and Edna May b. 11 October 1902.

The father of Mrs. McDill was born in Crawford Co., Pennsylvania and the mother in Ireland. The latter came to America with her parents when whe was three years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Agnew were married in Erie Co., Pennsylvania and later came to Johnson C.. The father d. 14 October 1871 and the mother in 1884. There were seven children in the Agnew family: Margaret J. d. age 3; William d. age of 1; Martha Jane d. age 14; Samuel ; Alice; Wilson d. age of 11; and Sarah d. age of 8. 


McGrew, O.W. (p. 286)

Dr. Oliver W. McGrew was born in Ohio on the 10 July 1873, the son of A.J. and Abbie (Armstrong) McGrew, also natives of Ohio. They lived in Ohio until 1892 when they migrated to Iowa, settling on a farm in Louisa Co. Mr. McGrew died in 1898 and Mrs. McGrew in 1911.  There were six children in the family: Mary, m. E.A. Sheets of West Virginia; Addie; Oliver W., our subject; and Anna d. age 36.

Oliver W. McGrew was married in 1894 to Hattie Klotz, born in Louisa County on the 5 December 1875, a daughter of T.J. and Anna (Stapp) Klotz. T he father was a native of Pennsylvania and the mother of Indiana, but they were married in Iowa. They had seven children; R.L.; Ada m. William Probst of West Liberty; Hattie (above); Effie m. J.D. Darrow; Meda m. William Blender, of Carthage, Ill; Pearl m. Levering Palmer and Paul.

Dr. and Mrs. McGrew had three children: Faye b. 8 April 1895; Edwin A. b. 5 October 1898 and Carlton K. b. 28 November 1910. 


McKeever, James (p. 412)

James McKeever was born in Ohio on the 21 November 1860 and is a son of John and Mary (Wasson) McKeever. The parents were both natives of Ireland adn emigrated to the United States at a young age. They had eight children, four deceased, the others: John; Archie; Jane m. E.W. Geadon of Illinois and James, our subject.]

On the 28 September 1889, Mr. McKeever married Anna Loudin, a native of Ireland and a daughter of William and Mary A. (Purcill) Loudin. The family emigrated to the United States in1880. Mr. and Mrs. McKeever had five children: Harry A.; Maggie J.; Ruth; Ralph; and William.
