Thomas
Thomas, J.G. (p. 344)
John G. Thomas was born in Louisa Co. on the 27 January 1878, the son
of Dennis and Elizabeth (Griffith) Thomas, the father a native of Wales
and the mother of Louisa Co. There were four children in the family: Mary
E. m. J.H. Jones; John G.,of this review; David L. and Daniel.
On 16 April 1908, Mr. Thomas married Anna Davis. By 1912 they had two
children, one died in infancy and the other Elizabeth I. born 9 February
1910.
Thompson
Thompson, B.E. (p. 39)
Balis E. Thompson, former superintendent of the county poor farm was
born in Louisa County on 18 August 1862, the son of Henry and Sinah (Hurley)
Thompson. They were natives of Ohio and Delaware, respectively. They were
married in Louisa Co. Mr. Thompson died 4 March 1869 There were thirteen
children in the family: WIlliam A. the eldest; Minerva, m. James Billings,
a button manufacturer in Muscatine; Laura E. m. William H. Melrose of Colfax,
Wash; Balis E., our subject; Frances; Henry W., Van Buren Co.; Martha A.;
Maria B.; Mary A. m. J.F. Cornelius; John E.; Harry; and Altha, twin sister
of Frances who died in infancy. Mrs. Cornelius left four children at her
death: James; Roy E.; Lulu, m. Lorinza R. McKinney; and Howard.
On the 5 July 1888, Mr. Thompson married Frances L. Presbury,daughter
of John C. and Victoria (Mason) Presbury, natives of Ohio. There were nine
Presbury children: Virginia G. and Charles, d. in infancy; Frances L.(above);
William A. K.C., MO; Emma m. Harry Kitner, also of K.C.; Susan m. Joseph
Halcroft; Cora m. Charles Martin; Maud m. Burton Redfern; and Katie m.
Joseph Aukers.
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson have five children: Lulu E. b. 14 April 1889 m.
Homer Mannefee; Mary McKinley, b. 27 August 1894; Rodney K. b. 5 May 1897;
John M. F. b. 4 December 1900 and Jean Audrey b. 16 December 1904.
Thomson
Thomson, J.C. (p. 52)
John C. Thomson was born 15 November 1857, in Newport, Kentucky, the
son of James Y. and Anna (Seed) Thomson, natives of Scotland and Ireland,
respectively. The father was a civil engineer. There were five children
in the family: John C.,of this review; Jennie, m. D.D. Marshall; Anna;
William, d. in infancy; and Cora E.
On the 25 Januayr 1886 , Mr. Thomson married Sarah Downey, daughter
of Michael and Anna Downey, of Oakville. They had four children: Marshall
D.; Mabel, d. in infancy; Charles T.; and Kenneth Bryan.
Tindall
Tindall, B. T. (p. 111)
Benjamin F. Tindall was born in Louisa Co. on the 23 January 1853,
the son of John and Sarah (Marshall) Tindall, natives of Ohio. Their children
were: Benjamin T., of this review; Mary and Eliza; Nancy m. Laben Saunders
of Poweshiek Co.; Robert; William, also of Poweshiek; and Sadie m. Lyman
Ogier.
Mr. Tindall married Sarah Marshall on 21 February 1877, the daughter
of William and Elizabeth (Smith) Marshall, who wre the parents of eleven
children as follows: Margareta; Ella, m. R. H. Marshall, Los Angeles; Sarah,
m. Mr. Tindall; Myra m. T.A. Hamilton of Winfield; Ida m. C.A. Whitaker
of Post Falls, Idaho; Joshua; Henry and Leander of Alaska; Frank; Clara
m. Geoge Hungate of S.D.; and Laura m. William Arnold.
Mr. and Mrs. Tindall had eight children: Laura and Leroy; Josie . Frank
Owens of New London; Velma; Alice; Nellie and Fred.
Tustison
Tustison, Dwight (p. 261)
Dwight Tustison was born 25 October 1866, the son of Frank and Martha
Tustison, natives of Ohio. The father was a well known physician
of Wapello. Dr. and Mrs. Tustison had three children: Dwight was the second
child, Emma m. Robert Garrett of Seattle, WA; and Ora m. a Mr. Rood, also
of Seattle.
On the 5 June 1898, Mr. Tustison married Abbie Spitznogle, daughter
of John and Sarah (Shaw) Spitznogle, who were the parents of five children,
as follows: Ameda, m. Clark Sheafor; Carrie, m. Allan Graves; Abbie (above);
George d. 1892; and John d. in infancy.
