PITCHIN PHOTOS

The Pitchin School was only a short distance from where the present Spring Run Cemetery lies.  This community has been known by both names Pitchin or Spring Run.  According to the Bond Family, the community was named Pitchin since one of the earliest families they researched in the area was from Pitchin, Ohio.  New settlers often named a new community for the one they had left.  There was also an old game called Pitchin' pennies. There is even a poem called Pitchin' at the Church.  Several stories have evolved about the origin of the name Pitchin, but the most likely one is that it was named for Pitchin, Ohio.

These initial photos have been collected and scanned by Norma Jennings and Sharol Fletcher  but others are welcome to contribute.  If you can help identify any of the unknown people in the pictures, we would very much appreciate it.  Contact:  ialouisa9@yahoo.com

others from the photo below from their clothing and hair styles.  I didn't find it necessary to take the time to do it myself
since I am not related to them and the faces were unclear but I could pick out the little dark haired Crossley girl.
