MILLS COUNTY'S TRAILS TO THE PAST |
|
| Mills County, Iowa welcomes you.
We are a new project and always looking for volunteers.
This site is available for adoption. If you are interested
please email the SA
and ask about the opportunities in hosting a site on Trails to
the Past. Mills County was primarily a farming community immigrants coming from the east and a lot moved on from Illinois as land opened up west of the Mississippi River. Before and after the Civil War immigrants started to move west as the farming areas where they lived were getting over crowded. They could sell off their farms and buy more land cheaper in unsettled areas. There were a lot of hardships starting over, buying land, building a home and buildings on the property, clearing the land. It took good strong men and women to deal with these hardships. Those that made it are the men and women who built our country for you and for me. They were our forefathers.
