Early Day Odebolt Theatricals
From the files of the Odebolt Observer we learn that the first "home
talent" production ever given in Odebolt was the oratorio of
"Queen Esther" given under the direction of one Prof. Danforth
Wednesday evening, September 22, 1880. The paper does not publish the cast
of characters.
On Wednesday evening, December 1, 1880, "Among the Breakers"
was successfully presented, the cast including C.J. Pitsor, John Heuston,
Mr. Foulks, John Mann, A.E. Matthews, F.P. Motie, Gertie Burleigh, Jennie
Buchanan and Jennie McFarland.
Several years later "True Blue" was played by Odebolt amateurs,
the cast including the late W.J. Summerwill, A.E. Matthews, F.P. Motie and
Chas. Lindquist and others who have since moved from this vicinity. |
