Realitives in Ireland received letters from Shambaugh (Page Co.) and Bedford, (Taylor Co.) Iowa in 1880's to late 1890's to relations he left at home in Ireland.
Richard POTTER was a Farmer in Siam, Taylor Co., Ia. for 2 years, removed to Shambaugh, IA. prior to Sep. 1892, spent some 5 years, then relocated to Jonesboro, Arkansas prior to May 1897 for some 4 years then returned to Siam, Taylor Co., IA. prior to Dec. 1902, where they lived the remaineder of their lives. "

 Their is a Vinna POTTER, b. 1836, d. Aug 18, 1872, age 36yrs, wife of R. POTTER. Some researchers claim this is 1st wife of our subject. I think this is doubtful, Vinna was 26 years older than our Richard & she died 8 years before our subject came to America..prs
