BORDEN/LINDEY Families Paul, Nice web site. On the wife's side of the family: Rachael Morretta Lindley, b.25 Aug 1846, m. Alfred Darwin Borden (b.14 Feb 1843) They had 4 children: Clarence Borden (23 Feb 1870 - 15 Mar 1952); William Homer Borden ( 1875 - 22 Jun 1959); Charles Borden ? ?; and Clifford Borden who died in infancy. Wm. Homer is my wife's grandfather. We have no information on any ancestor of either Rachel Moretta Lindley or Alfred Darwin Borden. At the same time that Alfred Borden bought land in Taylor County, a T. S. Lindley also bought land - may be some connection. Any data or clues you have and are willing to share will be appreciated. I will retire in the next 2 to 5 years so I am collecting what I can from family and the net in my spare time so I will have the basis of a project when I want to do it. Among the information I have acquired is a 7 page typed listing of the descendents of 10 Lindleys. It was typed by the wife of one of Clarence Bordens sons, and shared with me by their daughter. It has the names and most dates of birth, some deaths and a few marriage dates; it is almost devoid of places and good clues as to where to look for more data. I have not entered it in my computer so I can't send it, but if you want it I will copy and mail it to you.

| Submitter: Larry Baldwin) | BROWN, Susan My sister Gayle (Baldwin) Struska passed along the information you provided on the Wilson family and Susan Pugh. It looks like a we finally have some information on our elusive Susan Brown. Gayle is having all kinds of problems with AOL, everytime she gets mail it seems she gets dropped from her connection and loses everything. She asked that you use me, lbaldwin@polaristel.net, as a go between to get the information on Susan's, therefore our, ancestors. Gayle sends her apologies for asking for the information again and then losing it again. This is really a thrill to get some information on Susan. Our best lead to this point has been that there was a neighbor girl the right age in the 1970 census, only the census has her as Susan "Brain". I looked at that census with a magnifing glass to see if it could have been "Brown". All I can figure is that the census taker didn't understand and wrote down the wrong name. The census also showed her as born in Indania, we thought she was born in Frankfort, Kentucky. Since this girl was living with Wilsons, Gayle decided to pursue the issue from that angle, I sure am glad she did, she found you. If you have additional information on this family I would really appreciate it. Anything from Susan and Sarah's parents back would be common ancestors. Thank you very much Larry Baldwin lbaldwin@polaristel.net Date: 98-06-17 20:05:02 EDT ..prs | |||||||||||

BALDWIN, (BROWN) Susan
Thank you for answering me. Do you happen to know who this Susan Brown is? I believe her to be my great great grandmother. I believe her to be related to Abraham Wilson and Louisa. There is a younger Brown boy, Joseph age 9, living with Evan Wilson in the same census in Page Co. In this census Joseph is listed as being born in Iowa. I think this is Susan's brother. If you know anything about this family, please let me know. No one in our family has been able to find out much about her. Family records and obituaries say she was born in Mercer Co, Ky. I also see in the 1870 census Your Drace family were neighbors to Abraham Wilson, also my great great great grandfather, Reuben Baldwin was a neighbor. On the 1870 census: McIver was #1074; Drace SR #1706; Drace JR #1077; Abraham Wilson #1078; and Reuben Baldwin #1073; I have a copy of a marriage license and certificate of marriage for Susan Brown and Alonzo Baldwin. My brother went to the Page County Courthouse when he was on a trip and got a copy of it. They were married June 2, 1872. Alonzo is a son of Reuben Baldwin. Also do you know the cemetery that the Wilson family are buried in? I believe this is where I will find the Baldwin's buried. Thank you so much for your help.
