William Edgar BAGLEY  was my great grandfather. He learned photography in the Civil War and was in business as a photographer (and possibly a "chemist") in Dyersville, Iowa. In the late 1880s, he moved to Granger, Iowa (Polk/Dallas Co. border) where he was a farmer and carpenter. He (and possibly his son Harvey) continued to take and develop pictures but he did not have a business site in Granger. I suspect that he continued to use the cardboard backing with the Dyersville address for family and friends long after he went out of business. I am trying to see if I can find the name of the man with whom he shared the business in Dyersville to see if it was H. H. DRAKE, the photographer already listed with you from Dyersville. I have a book of photography copyrighted in the 1860s in which BAGLEY listed names of customers and made penciled comments about chemical formulas for developing, etc. His camera and some of his equipment was donated to the Iowa State Historical Society after his death.
