My grandmother and her family lived in Dallas County, Iowa in 1880 when my grandmother was one year old, I think she was born there. About 30 years ago my mother lost some items that she had put in storage, two of them had been passed down to her by her mother. There was a plate made in Prussia (which doesn't exist today), it had ladies faces painted around the edges and I think there was writing and perhaps a map painted in the center, I'm sure it dated back to the 1800's. It was dinner plate size and in color and quite beautiful, I probably won't get it back but if anyone knows the story behind it that would be wonderful. The other item was a handmade "wedding ring" quilt, an off white quilt with different colored fabric sewn in varying large circles.

My grandmother was Hattie Eakin born in 1879, her parents George and Carrie (Rochelle) Eakin, and her siblings, Charles, Robert, Nellie, Carrie, Jennie, Fannie and Frank (all older than her). If anyone is familiar with this family or these items I would love to know!
