Evans

Cemetery

In the 1894 Land Transfers for Township 75N, Range 43 W, Section 6, Book 7 of Garner Township, is a Warranty Deed from G. St. Mann to S. Jensen for E 26 acres N 1/2 NW 1/2 25 feet, N & S, and 25feet E. & W. except Private Cemetery N 25 feet, E 35 feet, S 45 feet. This being the only record found and the earliest for a cemetery in Section 6, Garner Township, we assume it is Evans Cemetery.

This section was taken from Garner when Lake Township was formed. In the Pottawattamie County Atlas of 1885, the land around this cemetery was owned by Jno. Evans, Jane Evans, Jos. Evans and Sarah Evans.
