Flint

Cemetery

Just west and a little south of Griswold is the Flint Cemetery. This cemetery is located in Section 11 of Waveland Township. it was first known as the Rhode Island Bridge Burial Ground, and was established about 1875. Originally, lots sold for three dollars each and could be financed in three annual installments.

The land was donated by John Flint and wife, Mary Pierson, and originally was on the west side of the road. Later, it was moved to the east side and named Flint Cemetery. The first burial was a little girl travelling by covered wagon headed west.

There was once a school house beside the cemetery but it was later relocated.
