Now we know why they needed the big barnes, some
place to keep the mules! Actually the barn was used for sheep. |
Fairview Farm (A little history from Paul Druivenga) |
| Some of these pictures are from my collection.
Others are from an Odebolt centennial book. The farm pictures are from the
Wheeler Ranch, later being the Adams Ranch. It was nine square sections of land.
The original ranch was purchased in 1871 by H.C. Wheeler. In 1896 W.P.
Adams bought the ranch. The Adams Ranch was also known as the Fairview Farm although I've only ever heard it called the Adams Ranch. The picture with the mules is (my guess) from around 1906. Which would make it an Adams picture. Wheeler donated the land which is now Odebolt. There was also a 12 section ranch north of Odebolt. The Cook ranch was broken up almost immediately. The last of the farm was sold in 1918. .The Shinrone ranch was owned by the Bridges family. They were the final owners of the complete ranch.
