Dee Haviland Fournier began the search for her family history over 30 years ago. She enjoys finding interesting things in old newspapers, especially when they relate to her family or places where her ancestors lived. She co-authored along with Marjeann Blinn and Connie Moretti, a guide for beginning genealogists, Stepping Stones to Genealogy, for the South Bay Cities Genealogical Society (California)
She also served on their Board of Directors for eight years.
Dee studied Sociology and Organizational Leadership at Chapman University (Manhattan Beach, California, Fort Lewis and McChord Air Force Base in Pierce County, Washington) and Independent Study Courses at Brigham Young University (Provo) in Genealogy.
She currently serves as an Instructor at Heritage Quest Research Library and the Sumner Senior Center. Both sites are located in Sumner, Washington. She also volunteer at Heritage Quest Research Library.
Now residing in Puyallup, Washington, she shares her knowledge with others interested in tracing their family history.
Her fields of expertise include Beginning Genealogy, Creating a Digital Presentation, DNA, Facebook, France, French-Canadian Research, German Research, Manuscripts, Printed Genealogists and Hidden Collections, Migration Trails, Researching Newspapers, and Roots Magic 7,a genealogical software program.
Her short programs are: Contacting Relatives and Writing Your Personal/Family History.
She is currently working on the book, Stepping Stones to Genealogy in Washington's King, Pierce and Thurston Counties, due out in November 2015
