Looking for Clarence Oviatt whose parents were Lily May Ragan (b. 2 Jul 1866) and Herbert Oviatt (b. ?), Harrison County, Iowa, married 3 Jun 1883 or 1884. 1920 Census records show a Clarence age 25, born Iowa, living in Iowa, Woodbury Sioux City; and Clarence age 36 born Iowa, living in Oklahoma, Garfield County, township of Enid. Alva, Woods County, OK is where a Clarence lived in 1937 when his 97 year old Grandfather Josiah Ragan passed away and he was named as a beneficiary. Our Clarence had two sisters Nellie Oviatt Fugit (whom I believe I have found married to a Tony R. Fugit living in Liberty, Woods, Oklahoma in 1920 with a family Ray, Hazel, Inez, Floyd, Lyle and mother-in-law Lily M. Oviatt). Nellie was 32 which would give her birth year about 1888.and Nora Oviatt Walker and a brother Joseph Horatio Oviatt whom I also think I have found in Blue, Jackson County, Missouri in the 1920 Census at age 35. Have birth record in Harrison County, Iowa 17 Dec 1885 which goes with Herbert and Lily. A little "frosting on the cake", first child is Herbert (his father's name) and second child is Lily M. his mother's name, then a Sidney and a son whose name I cannot read. Now back to Clarence. I have no birth record on him in Harrison County, but there is an indication of an obituary in 1901 for a "child of Clarence Oviatt". The Clarence who is 25 in 1920 in Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa may be our Clarence but need something to tie him to Herbert and Lily Ragan Oviatt. Can you help. In the meantime I will return to our LDS Family Research Center here in Richland, WA and pursue more on the 36 year old Clarence Oviatt living in Enid, Garfield, Oklahoma. Hope you can help.

Searching for information on my gggrandfather, Charles O'Neil, b 1821 IRE. Lived in Allamakee Co 1853-1867 when he went to Fort Madison Penitentiary for murder, pardoned and released 1882 - went back to Waukon area, then to South Dakota near grown children till possibly 1896. His wife was Susan Bechtol O'Neil who died in Allamakee Co in 1864 at age 28 leaving 6 children who were basically orphaned 2 years later when Charles went to prison. Charles appears on the 1900 Woodbury Co Federal Census. I was told by a great aunt that he died in Sioux City about 1920. He would have been nearly 100 yrs old - but I think it is safe to say he died there between 1900-1920. He was living alone on the 1900 census. He had sons Charles, William and John, daughters Eliza (my ggrandmother), Sarah and Mary. Can anyone please help us locate a death record? Thank you.

Looking for the burial site of my great great grandmother, Cornelia SEELEY (SEELYE) OWEN who died 20 February 1905. The only information that I have is "Riverside (Iowa)". In 1870 (Fayette county) census her last name was GRANT. The children were listed as OWEN and there was no male head of household given.

I am searching for a great-great (uncle) grandfather who supposedly owned land in Sioux City but, we haven't been able to find any information on him. I wonder if you can give me the name of a person who would go to the courthouse and try to find some information on this man. His name was Charles O'Neil and we know he died between November 21, 1882 (when he was released from prison) and when his probate was done April 15, 1884. This particular probate was in Waukon, Allamakee County, his g-granddaughter (she died in 1975) thought he was a pioneer in Woodbury County and had owned land there. We don't find any record for him dying in Allamakee, so thought he may have gone to be with family in Sioux City. His sister was Eliza McChesney, and several daughters. He would have been buried in a Catholic Cemetery I think. Do you think there is any hope? Thank you for your time.

I am looking for any references to the family of Rev. John & Mrs. Irene Orange who were living in Sioux City in the late 40's and early 50's. He was a Baptist minister and she was a dietitian at a hospital or some such facility there. There were 2 children, Mary and John (JR.?). They moved to Chariton, IA, sometime in the mid-to-late-'50's and on to the Oklahoma City area (where I believe they were originally from). Mrs. Orange re-married a Mr. Brainard after Rev. Orange passed away. The last I heard from her, Mrs. Orange-Brainard was living in Stillwater, OK in the late 80's, but I lost track of the family and now need to find any information anyone may have for genealogical search! Thanks!

Is there anyone in Woodbury Co who can verify a birth in Correctionville from an index at the courthouse or library? I don't really need the birth record - just want to verify that she was born in Correctionville. Her marriage record was the first reference to IA for the family of 12 children. Dolly Pearl Theresa Olson was born 25 Oct 1897 to Peter and Julia (Johnson) Olson, immigrants from Norway in 1876. The rest of the siblings were born in IL and WI. By 1900 they were all in Rockford, IL. Thank you for any help.
