Northwood High School
Class of 1930
Baccalaureate Service Program
The Class of 1930 from Northwood High School graduated at a particularly difficult time in the history of the United States. Their Baccalaureate Service was held on Sunday, May 18, 1930 at 8 p.m. at the Northwood Baptist Church. A. M. Whitby was the pastor and Miss Stella Tenold organist. The H. S. Girls' sextet, the H. S. Glee Club, and the Faculty Quartet all performed during the service. Part of Hymn No. 405, which they sang, reads "I need thee, blessed Jesus, For I am very poor; A stranger and a pilgrim, I have no earthly store:" They probably didn't stop to think over those words in the excitement of their graduation, but the depression would make it more difficult for them than most graduating classes.
Below is the list of the graduates, taken from a copy of the Baccalaureate Service program.
