Birdie Hopkins

    Funeral services for Birdie Irene Hopkins, 82, of Wilder, who passed away Sunday, June 19, 1994, at a Nampa retirement center, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 1994, at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Reverend Bill Hopkins will officiate with Bobby Hopkins assisting.  Burial will follow at the Wilder Cemetery, Wilder, Idaho.
    Irene was born October 25, 1911, at Terra Haute, Indiana, a daughter of John and Bird Vanderpool French.  She moved with her family to Parma, Idaho, in 1918 and attended Roswell schools.  She married Andy Hopkins on June 4, I 932, at Ontario, Oregon.  Irene and Andy celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year.  The couple lived in the Parma and Wilder area until retiring to Karcher Estates.
    Irene was a member of the Golden Gate Baptist Church, Wilder.
    She is survived by her husband, Andy; three daughters, Darlene Mathews of Nampa, Nona and her husband, Bill Hickox of Wilder, Cathy and her husband, Mike Sanford of LaGrande, Oregon; a brother, Wayne and his wife, Dorothy French of Boise; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Varner and Irma Hopkins of Adrian, Oregon, Edith and Homer Hatch of Mountain Home, Idaho, Albert and Marie Hopkins of Parma, Bob and Betty Hopkins of Parma, and Frances French of Parma; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lester and Walter French, and an infant son.
