Carl Gotsch

Services for Carl F. Gotsch, 83, of Parma, who died Saturday, Sept. 6, at home following a short illness, were held today at Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church, Parma.
Pastor Paul F. Evans officiated, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.  Burial was in Lower Boise Cemetery, Parma.
Mr. Gotsch, a retired rancher, and farmer, was born Sept. 25, 1902, at Loboe, Germany, to Gustav and Helen Bandholz Gotsch.  He immigrated to the United States and settled in Idaho in 1924.  After working in lumber and sheep camps, he settled in the Parma-Notus area in 1931.
He married Elly Arp on July 20, 1931, at Vale, Ore.  She was also a native of Laboe whom Carl had known since his youth.  They began farming in the Ten Davis area in 1939 and had farmed and fed cattle until recently when he retired.
He was active in community affairs, including service as a director of the Farmers Cooperative Ditch Co. for more than 20 years.  He was a longtime member of the Ten Davis School Board, and a member of Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church in Parma.
He is survived by his wife of Parma; three sons, Carl Gotsch of Palo Alto, Calif., and Hans and William Gotsch, both of Parma; nine grandchildren; and two sisters; and numerous other relatives living in Germany.
Memorials may be made to Kirkpatrick Church, Parma; or to the Parma Senior Citizens.
