Funeral services for Charles A. Flanary, 79, of Nampa, who
died on Sunday, Sept. 30, at a Nampa hospital, will be
conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel
with the Rev. russell Hendrickson, pastor of the Nampa First
Baptist Church, officiating. Burial with military honors
by the Nampa V.F.W. Post No. 3465 will follow at the Hillcrest
Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Charles A. Flanary was born on Feb. 23, 1911, in Hancock
County, Tennessee. In 1921 he moved with his family to
Oklahoma. In 1932 he moved to Owyhee County. He
was married to Marie Hogge on Nov. 9, 1943, at Boise. He
enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Nov. 17, 1943, serving on the USS
Idaho and was honorably discharged on Nov. 15, 1945.
Following his discharge he returned to Idaho and made his home
in Nampa with his family. He began working at the Union
Pacific Express Shops in Nampa where he was employed until
retiring in Dec. of 1975. His wife preceded him in death
on Dec. 1, 1976. He was a member of the Brotherhood of
Charles is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce
and James Lewis, Nampa, and Shirley and Roger Cook, Phoenix,
Ariz.; a brother, Fred Flanary, Crescent, Ore.; a sister,
Gladys Poe, Nampa; six grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by
