Darrell Jacobsen

    Funeral services for Mr. Darrell “Jake” D. Jacobsen, 61, of Nampa, who died very suddenly as the result of a heart attack on Monday, Feb. 15, 1988, at a Nampa hospital, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at the Nampa Stake Center Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1500 Smith Ave., With Bishop Ken Harward of the Nampa 11th Ward LDS Church, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.  Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
    Mr. Jacobsen was born on Aug. 24, 1926, at St. Paul, Neb.  In 1936 he moved with his family to Melba, where he was reared and educated.  He served in the U.S. Merchant Margins from 1945 to 1946.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952.  Following his honorable discharge he moved to Nampa.  He was married to Emma Rose Sparks at Nampa on Feb. 12, 1960, and their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on Nov. 22, 1962.  They have made their home at their current residence since 1961.  He worked for Mountain Bell for 31 years retiring in December 1983.  In 1970 he started Jake’s Digging and Trenching.  He was a very active member of the Nampa 11th Ward LDS Church having been a high priest in the ward, served as executive secretary, a member of the Elders Quorum Presidency, involved in the Young Men’s Organization and had held many other church positions.
    He is survived by his wife, Emma Rose, Nampa; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Ken L. and Siri Jacobsen, with the U.S. Navy in San Diego, James R. Jacobsen, attending Ricks College, Rexburg, and Dale S. Jacobsen, at home; his mother, Mrs. Hazel A. Jacobsen, Nampa; his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Shirley Jacobsen, Nampa; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wayne and Joan McGrew, Arlington, Texas; five nephews; and a cousin, Marie Clark, Nampa;  He was preceded in death by his father, Albert M. Jacobsen in 1973.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 8 to 11 a.m.  The family will greet friends at the church from 12:320 to 1:15 p.m.
    The family suggest memorials to the Mercy Medical Center Hospice Program, 1512 12th Ave. Road, Nampa 83651; a favorite charity; or flowers may be sent.
