Doyle Finney |
Doyle Finney, 81, of Nampa, died Sunday, April 21, 1996, at a
Nampa care center. Graveside funeral services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 1996, at the
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tom Larson, pastor of
the Nampa First Unied Methodist Church will officiate.
Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Services are
under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Doyle Finney was born on May 9, 1914, at Pike City, Arkansas,
to James M. and I. Zora Hipps Finney. He was reared and
educated in lumber camps throughout Arkansas, while working
with his father. His father had his own logging
business, and was written about in Arkansas history books for
his contribution to the logging industry. After logging,
Doyle became a carpenter. He married Mary Caldwell in
1941 in Springfield, Oregon. They moved to California,
and he worked in the shipyards during WWII. After the
war, they moved to Texas, where he continued working as a
carpenter. In 1966 he went to work for Pan American
Airways, as a carpenter, in Jackass Flats, Nevada.
Doyle then married Elsie Miller on December 27, 1966, in Las
Vegas, Nevada. He worked for Pan American for 10 years,
and was known by his co-workers as "Pappy." In 1975 they
moved to Powell, Wyoming. He retired, and they moved to
Nampa in 1976 where they had since resided. Even after
retirement, Doyle did remodeling in Nampa, including his own
home.
He had several hobbies, including fishing, playing cards,
gardening and raising roses, and woodworking in his shop.
He loved dancing and listening to country western music
He is survived by his wife, Elsie of Nampa; 2 sons, Richard
Finney, Price, Utah, Carroll Finney, Camano Island,
Washington; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Floyd
Austin, Dallas, Texas; 2 stepdaughters and their husbands,
Joyce and Larry Hochstetler, Nampa, Patricia and Dennis
Burden, Nampa; 2 stepsons, Bruce Miller, Benicia, California,
Clyde Miller, Prince George, Virginia; 3 brothers., Newton
Finnie, Visalia, California, Andrew Finney, Romoland,
California, Lloyd Finney, Natalia, Texas; 2 sisters, Edna Fae
Cooper, Walla Walla, Washington, Etha Doyel, Fort Smith,
Arkansas; 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1
sister.
The family suggest memorial contributions to the Parkinson's
Disease Center, St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, 1055 N.
Curtis, Rd., Boise, Idaho 83706 or flowers may be sent.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until 9
p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 to 11 a.m. |
