Ervin
Samuel Gingrich, 92, of Glendale, A2 and formerly of Nampa,
died on Sunday, March 9, 1997 in Glendale. Memorial Services
will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, March 14, 1997 at the
Alsip Funeral Chapel. Pastor Robert Garber of the Mennonite
Church will officiate. A private family interment will
precede the services at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens,
Caldwell.
Ervin S. Gingrich was born on May 16, 1905 in Ayr,
Nebraska, the son of Marshall and Jessie Gingrich. Ervin and
his family moved to Kalispell, MT, and then to Albany, OR,
where he lived through his teens and later met Goldie Kaufman.
He then moved to Heston, KS, where he and Goldie were married
by D.H. Bender in 1926. He worked at the Heston Farm Machine
Manufacturing Co. In 1958 they moved to Nampa to be near two
of their sons and families. In 1981 they retired and moved to
Glencroft Retirement Center in Glendale, AZ. Ervin was a
member of the Mennonite Church.
Ervin is survived by 2 sons, Clinton W. Gingrich, Mesa,
AZ, and Lyle D. Gingrich, Laguna Niguel, CA; 5 sisters, Ruth
Brennaman, Della Unruh, Esther Elston, Audrey Brennaman and
Doris Ellsworth; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie and their
son, Leon "Bud" Gingrich; 2 brothers, Mahlon and Allen
Gingrich; and a sister, Mary Bond.
Ervin was very active in both the Wichita Rescue Mission
and the Boise Rescue Mission.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the
Alsip Chapel.
