Emma Hartwig

    Graveside services for Emma S. Hartwig, 94, of Caldwell, who died Tuesday, June 18, in a Caldwell hospital of natural causes, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Parma Cemetery.  The Rev. Raymond A. Thompson of the United Methodist Church, Caldwell, will officiate, under the direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
    Mrs. Hartwig was born Jan. 14, 1891, at Weir City, Kan., to Jess and Ismer Rey.  
    She married Henry Hartwig in 1908.  In 1932, they moved to Parma, where they farmed until Mr. Hartwig's death in 1937.  She was the first cook in the Parma school lunch program where she worked for several years.
    She is survived by three daughters, Emma Cox of Bremerton, Wash., Margaret Iverson of Nampa and Naomi Mitchell of Moscow; a son, John Hartwig of Caldwell; three sisters, Julia Cazier and Bertha Hartig, both of Kansas and Claire Servi of California; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.  Two daughters, Marion Vertrees of Caldwell and Ismer Ramsay of Wyoming preceded her in death.
    Memorials may be made to the Parma Senior Citizens Center, c/o Dakan Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 1386, Caldwell 83606.  Friends may call today from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
