Funeral services for Evelyn L. Johnson, 71, of 816 Fern St.,
Nampa, who died Monday in Boise, at the home of her son, will
be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nampa College Church of
the Nazarene, with the Rev, Clarence J. Kinzler, pastor of the
church, officiating. Interment
will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial
Gardens.
Services and interment
are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
She
was born Dec. 2, 1910, at Ray, N.D.,
to Obert and Sophia Linstad, where she was reared and
educated, graduating valedictorian from high school in 1926.
She then attended
Minot
Business
College
in Minot,
N.D.
In 1928 she moved to Mohall, N.D.,
where she worked for the T.P. Clifford Law Firm.
She married Oscar
Johnson Feb. 19, 1930, in Mohall, N.D.
She then worked for
the Minnesota Phone Company for several years.
He died Sept. 14,
1945. In 1946 she
moved to Minneapolis, Minn.,
where she worked in the head office of the phone company as a
bookkeeper. In August
of 1957 she came to Nampa
and began working for
Northwest
Nazarene
College
as a bookkeeper. She
retired in 1976 and had resided in
Nampa
since. She was a
member of the College Church of the Nazarene where she had been
missionary president, secretary of the church board and past
treasurer of the Women's Auxiliary.
She
is survived by two sons, Wallace C. Johnson,
Ontario, Ore.,
David N. Johnson, Boise; a
daughter, Mrs. Corine B. Tanner, Seattle,
Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Verna L. Kamp,
Minneapolis, Minn.; a stepbrother, Ralph Lough, Tacoma, Wash.;
eight grandchildren, four nieces and a nephew.
She
was preceded in death by a sister, Dolly.
