Fred Hertig Jr.

    Services for Fred Charles Hertig Jr., 62, of Parma Route 1, who died Thursday, Dec. 8 at his home of natural causes, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell, by the Rev. John Sinclair of the First Christian Church, Caldwell.  Interment will be at the Lower Boise Cemetery, Parma.
    He was born Nov. 11, 1921, in the Ten Davis Community near Parma where he was reared and educated.  He married Dorothy Thomas Feb. 1, 1942.  They were later divorced.  He farmed in the Ten Davis Community until moving to Caldwell in 1947 where he operated a Texaco Service Station until 1950 when he returned to Ten Davis and continued to farm.
    He married Irene Nickel Dec. 17, 1955, in Winnemucca, Nev. and they have lived at Ten Davis since that time.  He was active in the community affairs and had been the secretary of the Farm Labor committee in Notus.  He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1448 in Caldwell.  Since his retirement in 1971 he has spent the summer months at his summer home in Donnelly.
    He is survived by his wife of Parma; one daughter, Shari Collord of Boise; two sisters, Louise Redenbo of Caldwell and Elise Swanson of Boise; a grandson, Fred Collord of Caldwell, and one step-great-granddaughter, Rochelle Collord of Caldwell.
    He was preceded in death by a brother, William.
    Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
    Friends may call at the chapel in Caldwell from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
