Funeral services for
Florence M. Houtchens, 87, of Caldwell, and formerly of Nampa,
who died Sunday, March 15, 1992, at a Caldwell hospital, will
be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 1992, at the
Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Reverend Ronald Clagg of
the Church of God, Caldwell, will officiate. Burial will
follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Mrs. Houtchens was born July2 19, 1904, at Ridgeway,
Missouri, a daughter of Nelson D. and Alice May Reynolds
Smith. She was reared and educated in Missouri and Minnesota.
She married Lynn K. Houtchens on February 3, 1926, at
Clinton, Missouri. The couple farmed at Mount Rose, Missouri,
moving to Red Oak, Iowa, in 1931. They continued farming
there until 1954 when they moved to Nampa, Idaho. Mr.
Houtchens died March 7, 1976, at Nampa, Idaho. She had lived
with her daughter in Caldwell for the last few years.
She was a charter member of the Church of God, Caldwell;
and a member of the Good Neighbors Club of Nampa.
Florence is survived by her two sons, Robert of Emerson,
Iowa and Clifford of Red Oak, Iowa; a daughter, Mary E. Brewer
of Caldwell; a sister, Doris Lisby of Ava, Missouri; 16
grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, seven
brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren and a son-in-law.
Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the
Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. |
