Gayle Bunderson Hales, 83,
of Nampa, died Tuesday, July 11, 1995, at a Nampa care center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 14
Amity Building, L.D.S. Church. Lee Hales, a son, will
officiate. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial
Gardens. Services are under the direction of the Alsip
Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Gayle Bunderson was born June 29, 1912, at St. Charles,
Bear Lake County, Idaho, to Hervin Bunderson and Leona Linford
Bunderson. When she was two months old her parents moved to
Brigham City, Utah, where she grew up and attended schools.
She graduated from Box Elder High School and then attended
Utah State University in Logan, Utah. She taught in Box Elder
County schools for two years.
Gayle married Leon K. Hales in Logan, Utah, on June 1,
1933.
They made their home in Brigham City until January, 1937,
when they came to Boise.
In November, 1938, they moved to Nampa where she has
since resided. Mrs. Hales was active in community affairs in
Nampa, having served on and headed charitable drives.
She was a member Woman's Century Club for forty years and
served as president of that organization in 1965-66.
She was also very active in her church, serving in both
teaching and executive positions. Her husband, Nampa
businessman Leon K. Hales, died in 1987.
She is survived by one daughter and three sons and their
spouses, Janice and Fred Clark, Lee and Marti Hales, Noel and
Loretta all of Nampa and John and Valerie Hales of Salt Lake
City. Also surviving are twenty-one grandchildren and
nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister and her husband, Mary
and David Hibbert of Phoenix, Arizona, and one brother and his
wife, Dr. Dean L. Bunderson and Keely, Brigham City, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one
sister, Leona Clement, and a daughter-in-law, Hertha Hales.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Thursday
from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and at the Amity Building on Friday from
I p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
