Gibbens |
Gail E. Gibbens, 70, of Boise died Thursday, July 11,
1996, at home of cancer. Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m., Monday, July 15, 1996, at Grace Lutheran Church,
2700 S. Kimball, Caldwell. Pastor David Hrachovina of Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church, Boise, will officiate. Interment
will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, under the
direction of Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Mrs. Gbbens was born January 20, 1926, at Chestnut,
Illinois, the daughter of Julius and Clara Schmitt. She came
to Idaho with her family in 1936 where she attended Lake
Lowell Grade School and worked in the fields and also for
Crookham Seed Co., Swift & Co. and the Caxton Printers. She
married Donald (Vern) Gibbens, November 3, 1945. To this
union were born three daughters; Janice, Charlotte and
Barbara.
Mrs. Gibbens worked for the Caldwell School Lunch Program
prior to moving to Weiser in 1966. There she worked for
Weiser Memorial Hospital and the Weiser School Lunch Program.
They moved to Boise in 1983 and she worked in the Food
Service Dept. of Hewlett-Packard until her retirement in 1988.
Mrs. Gibbens enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, baking
and visiting with family and friends. She was a member of
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Boise.
Surviving are her husband, Vern; her daughters and sons
in-law, Janice and Keith Easterday of Jordan Valley, Oregon,
Charlotte and Dick Davis of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and
Barbara and Ray James of Rupert, Idaho; two brothers and
sisters-in-law, Delbert and Arlene Schmitt of Caldwell and Ken
and Maureen Schmitt of Ellensburg, Washington; two sisters and
a brother-in-law, Doris and C.E. Frost of Caldwell and Maxine
Winsor of Spring Valley, California; seven grandchildren and
numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother,
Harold Schmitt and a niece.
Mrs. Gibben's family requests that memorials be made to
Life's Door Hospice, P.O. Box 5754, Boise, Idaho 83705, Good
Shepherd Lutheran Home of the West, Idaho Auxiliary, c/o Grace
Wegener, 3502 N. 19 00 E. Filer, ID 83328, or to the St.
Alphonsus R.M.C. Cancer Treatment Center, 1055 N. Curtis,
Boise, Idaho 83704.
Friends may call at Dakan Funeral Chapel Sunday from 3 to
8 p.m. |
