Howard R. Frickey, 72, of Nampa, went to be with his Lord on
Thursday, August 1, 1996. He died at a Boise hospital
from natural causes. Funeral services will be conducted
at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 1996, at the Zion Lutheran
church, 404 Nectarine St. Rev. Michael Schumacher,
pastor of the church will officiate. Burial will follow
at the hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel,
Nampa.
Howard R. Frickey was born on March 15, 1924, in Bridgeport,
Nebraska, the son of John and Letha Frickey. At age 10
he and his family moved to Nampa where he was reared and
attended schools. During his teenage years Howard and a
couple of his close friends played in a country western band.
They played at many country western dances and also had a
Saturday night radio program on KFXD. It was during
these teenage years that he met his girlfriend and soon to be
wife, Lila Marie Ferrenburg. They were married at Mt.
Home, Idaho, on Sept. 27, 1940, and they have been lifelong
companions since. From this union they were gifted with
one son, David E. Frickey. Howard was a heavy equipment
operator and his first job was running a D8 Cat building the
road that is now known as 12th Avenue in Nampa. He spent
2 years in Alaska operating heavy equipment. He then
returned to Nampa and went into business with his brother,
Jack, developing desert entries into farmland until he
retired. Howard enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed
camping, fishing and hunting with his family. He enjoyed
taking his yearly deer hunting trip with his son and
daughter-in-law, David and Louise, and his grandson, Ken.
One of Howard's favorite pastimes was sitting in his shop and
visiting with his friends.
Howard was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Nampa.
Howard's family will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his wife, Lila M. Frickey, Nampa; his
son and daughter-in-law, David and Louise Frickey, Caldwell;
grandson and his wife, Ken and Sylvia Frickey; granddaughter
and her husband, Daynna and Gary Hill. Howard was also
blessed with five great grandchildren, Krystal and Jacob
Frickey and Sarah, Keysha and Christian Hill; his younger
brother and his wife, Paul and Marion Frickey; his older
sister and her husband, Marjorie and Ed Thornburgh; his
sister-in-law, Betty Frickey, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, Marshall,
James, Virgil, Donald and Jack, and 2 sisters, Dorothy Kurtz
and Evelyn Frickey.
Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Sunday and
Monday from 9 a.m. to 9 .m.
