Lorene June
Cornwell, 81, of Boise, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at
home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday,
November 24, 2009 at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise,
Idaho. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Wilder, Idaho
cemetery.
Lorene was born September 13, 1928, at Gate, Oklahoma. She
was the eldest of 5 daughters to Harold and Stella Carpenter.
In 1935 the family moved to the Fargo area near Wilder, Idaho.
She started school in Wilder, Idaho, and graduated from
Homedale High School in 1946.
On December 21, 1946, Lorene married her life partner, Ralph
L. Cornwell. After marriage they made their home in Caldwell,
Idaho. Lorene worked as a secretary for the Wilder Labor Camp
and later at Caxton Printers. In 1959 they moved to Boise
where Lorene was a homemaker until her daughters were grown.
She and Ralph worked many years together in his CPA practice.
In 1982, Lorene began working at the Boise State University
Bookstore, until her retirement in 2003. Lorene was an avid
Boise State University football fan as well as the number one
sports fan for her children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Lorene loved spending her spare time knitting and crocheting.
As a couple Lorene and Ralph had many happy times bowling,
playing cards with friends and traveling. Lorene is survived
by her two daughters, Cathy Curry and husband Mike of Todos
Santos, Mexico, and Christy Young and husband Robin of Boise,
three grandsons, Bryce Powell and wife Tammy of Sandpoint,
Idaho, Brett Powell and wife Gina of Meridian, Idaho, and Erik
Young and wife Laura of Whitefish, Mont., two granddaughters,
Jody Young of Boise, and Jamie Perkins and husband Bo of
Boise, three great-grandsons, Samuel and Brennan Powell of
Sandpoint, Idaho, and Mason Powell of Meridian, Idaho, two
sisters , Dolores Harris and husband Sid of Caldwell, Idaho,
and Gloria Ferrenburg and husband Kay of Eugene, Ore.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband in 2008, her
parents, and two infant sisters. The family would like to
extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Montgomery and Dr. Smith
of St. Luke's Mountain States Institute for their care and
compassion of Lorene. In addition, special thanks to River
Eyes, Rachel, and Kate of St. Luke's Hospice. They made it
possible for Lorene to be cared for at home by her two
daughters where she could be comfortable. The family suggests
memorials be made to Boise Police K9 Foundation |
