Leo Kerns

    Leo L. Kerns, 771 of Nampa, died peacefully, Sunday, Feb. 6, 1994, at a Nampa care center.  Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1994, at the Lower Boise Cemetery, near Parma. Rev. Virgil Saltz, pastor of the Roswell First Baptist Church will officiate.  Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.  Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Leo L. Kerns was born Jan. 18, 1917, at Wray, Colorado, son of Fred and Mary Kerns.  He was reared and attended school in Colorado.  In 1935 he came to Idaho with his parents.  He entered the U.S. Marine Corps, on Feb. 5, 1941.  He served during WWII and was stationed on the St. Louis during the Pearl Harbor attack.  He retired from the Reserves in 1957.  Leo was the husband of the late Lois E. Kerns, who died in 1988.
    He is survived by 1 son, Michael Kerns, Bakersfield, CA.; 1 daughter, Donna Carroll, San Francisco, CA.; 1 brother, Marvin Kerns, Boise; 3 sisters, Lois Peterson and Betty Johnson, both of Boise, Faye Jamison, Nampa; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Besides his wife he was preceded in death by 1 sister and 6 brothers.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until 9 p.m.
    The family suggests memorial contributions to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1310 Vista Ave. Boise, Idaho 83705.
