Melvin J. Frazier, 75, of Nampa, a former Ontario, Ore.,
resident, died Monday, Oct. 28, 1991, at the Veterans Home in
Boise. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov.
1, at Persons-Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa. the Rev.
Kenneth W. Ball, assisted by the Rev. Vernon L. Wilcox, both
of the First Church of the Nazarene, Nampa, will officiate.
Burial will follow at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, Nampa.
Mr. Frazier was born May 14, 1916, at Natoma, Kan., a son of
Jacob C. and Eva J. LaRue Frazier, and moved with his family
to Nebraska where he grew up and attended schools, graduating
from Oxford High School. He married Loretta Mildred
Payton Jan. 30, 1953, at Cozad, Neb., and they made their home
in Nebraska for several years and he worked at a grain
elevator and served as a volunteer fireman for Cozad. He
completed a home study course for the ministry for Nazarene
churches in Saint Edward, Neb.; Raton, N.M., Carlsbad, N.M.,
and Santa Fe, N.M., for many years. He retired in 1976.
They later moved to Salem, Ore., where they were district
supervisors of apartments fro the Rockwood Development Corp.
and later transferred to the Treasure Valley and supervised
apartments in Nampa, Mountain Home, Twin Falls, Boise,
Meridian, McCall, Payette and Nyssa and Ontario, Ore.
Both taught school and she was a school secretary for a time
with Mel working as a teacher's assistant and a special
education teacher. Mrs. Frazier died in June 1990.
He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Nampa.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Steve
Frazier of Manhattan, Kan., Leroy and Carolyn Frazier of
Coquille, Ore., and Rodney and Jeanette Frazier of Nampa; two
daughters and a son-in-law, Sue and Marvin Fleming of Raton,
N.M., and Kathy Barker of Nampa; a sister, Fern Boyer of
Cozad, Neb.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Thursday, and until service time on Friday at Persons-Flahiff
Funeral Chapel, Nampa. |
