Rosary
for Mary J. Giefer, 92, 2814 S. Indiana Ave., Caldwell, who
died Thursday, Jan. 6, a t a Caldwell nursing home, will be
recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Monday a t St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caldwell, by the Rev.
John W. Morgan. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial
Gardens, Caldwell.
She was born July 20, 1890, a t North Washington, Iowa, to
Joseph and Mary Hess and was reared and educated there. She
married William P. Giefer Nov. 20, 1912, at North Washington.
They farmed near Hospers, Iowa, for many years until they
moved to Sioux City, Iowa, in 1940. In 1957, they moved to
Caldwell. Mr. Giefer died in March of 1965 and she has since
resided at Caldwell. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic
Church, Caldwell.
She is survived by three daughters, Rita Staab, Dawson,
Minn., Frances Eyler of Caldwell, and Joan Hintz of Tinley,
Park, Ill.; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, two daughters, four
brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell
Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 until 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given to a favorite charity. |
