Oscar E. Jewell

    NAMPA - Services for Oscar Edward Jewell, 85, 108 Venice Ave., who died Thursday at his home, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Nampa, by the Rev. Ernest E. Wilson, pastor of Nampa First United Methodist Church.
    Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
    He was born on March 30, 1889, in Arcadia, Neb., where he grew up.  He married Nora S. Leininger on Sept. 30, 1913 and they lived in Arcadia and farmed.  They came to Nampa in 1940.  From 1942 until he retired in 1959, Mr. Jewell worked as a signalman for Union Pacific Railroad.  The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sept. 30, 1973.
    He attended the Southside Boulevard Methodist Church.
    Survivors are his wife, of Nampa; two sons, Glen E., Nampa, and Norma L. Jewell, Mesa, Ariz; a daughter, Vera Hain, Nampa; two sisters, Myrtle L. Leininger, Kearney, Neb., and Nancy Mills, Golden, Colo.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Seven brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
