Services for Roy Jess Fortik, 78, of Caldwell, who died
Thursday, Dec. 11, in a Caldwell nursing home of natural
causes, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Caldwell Free
Private burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens under
the direction of Flahiff Funeral CHapel of Caldwell.
Mr. Fortik was born Sept. 17, 1908, in Ansley, Neb., to Frank
and Augusta Schamann Fortik, he was reared and educated
He married Carrie A. Dollarhide on March 25, 1928, at St.
Paul, Neb. They farmed at Ansley until Oct. 4, 1943,
when they moved to Nampa. In June of 1944 they moved to
Homedale. In December of the same year they moved to a
farm near Caldwell.
They farmed until 1958 when he had to quit due to porr
health. They then moved into Caldwell and he worked for
a time as a carpenter.
His hobbies included building and remodeling.
He attended the Caldwell Free Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dale Fortik of
Seattle, Merle Fortik of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Denny
Fortik of Caldwell; two sisters, Edith Standage of Poole,
Neb., and Doris Rosentreader of Ansley; two grandchildren;
four step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Memorials may be made to the Caldwell Free Methodist Church
or to the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel in Caldwell
Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon.
