Memorial funeral services
for Roy K. Hammond, 71, of 1715 W. Flamingo Ave., Nampa, who
died Saturday in a Nampa nursing home, will be conducted at 2
p.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church, Nampa, by the Pastor
Leo Reed. Cremation will be under the direction of Dakan
Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Interment will be in Hillcrest
Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
He was born Nov. 20, 1900, in Adams, N.Y., where he was
reared and educated. He graduated from New York College of
Forestry on Dec. 11, 1929. He worked as a forest ranger for
several years and then moved to Oakland, Calif., where he
owned and operated service stations. He married Elizabeth Ann
McDonald in 1934. She died Nov. 6, 1969. In 1976 he moved to
Nampa where he worked for Trimble Oil Co. He married Grace L
Davis on Oct. 18, 1979, in Nampa. He was a member of the
First Baptist Church, Nampa.
He is survived by his wife of Nampa; a son, Roy H. Hammond
of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Erma Ward of
Spokane; a sister, Marion Ashley of North Adams, Mass.; and
numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by a brother, Harley.
