William Gifford, 83, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away Wednesday,
August 14, 1996, in Payette nursing home of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, August
19, 1996, in the Deer Flat Rd. L.D.S. Chapel. Bishop Erick
Wadsworth of the Nampa, Idaho, 15th Ward of The Church Of
Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Burial will
follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Services are under the
direction of the Relyea Funeral Chapel, Boise.
Mr. Gifford was born on October 5, 191 2 in Woodville,
Idaho, to Henry Elmer and Lilly May Chaffin Gifford. He
married Jennie Thornton on February 10, 1931. Their marriage
was solemnized in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple on Feb 10, 1932.
Rural was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints. He served as a Stake Missionary in 1957. He
was the inventor of "Adjust-A Height" pulpit mechanisms used
in over 7,000 L.D.S. Chapels around the world. They are also
used in convention centers and court rooms.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Thornton Gifford of
Nampa, ID; a son, Leo Rural Gifford of Nampa; 2 daughters:
Juanita May Brunson of Delta, Utah, and Jennie LaReve Pulver
of Nampa, 19 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 1
A viewing will be held Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the Relyea
Funeral Chapel, 31 8 North Latah, Boise, and at the church on
Monday one hour prior to services.
