Mr. Hayes was born January 19, 1924, in Elm Creek,
Nebraska,; son of John E. and Mary E Cavanaugh Hayes, where he
was raised and attended high school. Tom moved to Idaho where
he met and later married Viola E Hannon on September 27, 1943,
in Nampa. Tom served in the Army in WWII. After his tour of
duty he returned home to Nampa where he began to work for
Penny Wise Drug. Tom attended college at the College of Idaho

Tom Hayes made a life of serving others in the health-care
field. His association with Penny Wise was his vocation and
his avocation. The people Tom served were always his friends
- he liked people, and the friendships he made through family,
church, and "over the case" were what 8 made his life.
Tom Hayes was a loving and devoted husband who celebrated
his wedding every day and he and Viola shared, 49 years. His
family has begun to spread across the west, but no son,
daughter, or grandchild was - or ever will be - far from Dad.
Dad is a part of all of us. Where we are, he is, and always
will be.
