Funeral services for Mr.
Virgil C. Haines, 83, of Nampa, who died Friday, May 6, 1994,
at a Nampa care center, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday,
May 9, 1994, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa. Rev. Tom
Larson of the Nampa First United Methodist Church will
officiate. Burial will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial
Gardens, Caldwell.
Virgil C. Haines was born on September 24, 1910, in
Castleford, Idaho, the son of Charles and Della Tippen Haines.
When he was seven years old, he moved with his family to
Nampa where he grew up and was educated.
He began work in 1937 at the Pacific Fruit Express Shops
and retired in 1974. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII
for 42 months, mostly in the South Pacific.
He married Verne Yardley in Nampa on June 1, 1947, and
they lived in the Nampa area their entire 47 years of
marriage.
He was a charter member of the Canyon County Historical
Society, a member of the Union Pacific Railroad Old Timers
Club and a longtime member of the Nampa American Legion,
Joseph H. Murray Post No. 18.
He is survived by his wife, Verne Haines of Nampa; a
sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Art Farrell of Meridian; a
sister-in-law, Elaine Haines of Horsehoe (sic) Bend; and
numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Alsip
Funeral Chapel today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Monday from
8 a.m. to noon. |
