Vernon M. Hoagland, 84, Of
Nampa, died Saturday April 12, 1997, at a Nampa hospital.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 1997,
at Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa, with Rev. Peter Wood
officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial
Gardens, Caldwell.
Vern was born March 20, 1913, at Falks Store, ID, to
Edward and Margaret Hoagland, one of eight boys. He spent his
early years in Melba where the family farmed. After
graduating he attended College of Idaho. He married Esther
Faye Mitchell, the love of his life, on March 20, 1933, at
Wilson, ID. They made their home in the Melba and Wilson
areas where Vern farmed and worked various jobs including a
fresh fruit and vegetable inspector for the U.S. Department of
Agriculture in Caldwell. After retiring, they sold their farm
and moved to Nampa. Vern was a devoted husband, father and
friend. He enjoyed travel, baseball, his children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vern is survived by 3 daughters: Verna Baker of Boise,
Betty Wilson of Bruneau and Donna Wood of Caldwell, a special
nephew Jim Hoagland of Melba, 4 brothers, Roy and Keith of
Melba, Glen of Nampa and Wayne of Portland, OR, 20
grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 2 great-great
grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, 3 brothers
and 1 grandchild.
