Carl K. Lunstrum,
77, of Nampa, died peacefully at home Monday, Dec.
11, 1989. Rosary
will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Flahiff
Funeral Chapel of Nampa, led by Father Francis Springer,
S.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be con-celebrated at 10
a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at
St. Paul's Catholic Church by the
Father Merle J. Fisher and Father Springer.
Burial will follow
at Mount
Calvary
Cemetery,
Nampa.
An
Idaho
native, Carl was born March 5, 1912, at
Boise.
After attending
Maple Grove School
and graduating from Boise High School, he earned a bachelor of science degree in
animal husbandry from the
University
of Idaho in 1933
and a master's degree from
Iowa State University.
He served as an
officer in the Army during World War II with the chemical
warfare division. During
this time, our father met his wife, Mary Foster of
Chicago, where they were married on
Dec. 31, 1943. They
made their home in Nampa where Dad first established Valley Ice
Cream Co. He also
worked for the Department of Employment, retiring from there
in 1977. He raised
his family on his dairy farm east of
Nampa.
Carl was loved
and admired by his wife and children and was the center of
this large, close family.
He was a member
of St. Paul's Catholic Church and of the Joseph
H. Murray Post No. 18. American Legion,
Nampa.
Survivors include
his wife, Mary, of Nampa; their 12 children and their
families, Ken and Madeline of Nampa, Jim and Pat of Arizona,
Melissa and Mike McNamara of San Francisco, Bill and Theresa
of Nampa, Trina and Jim Goslin of Arizona, Karen and Randy
Weissman of San Leandro, Calif., Mark and Janet of Lake
Tahoe, Kristy and Roger Baumchen of North Bend, Wash., Trisa
of Lake Tahoe, Janel of Bear Valley, Calif., Joel of Nampa
and Erin of St. Thomas, V.I.; two brothers, Fordyce and
Richard; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
son, Thomas, a brother, Mervyn, and a sister, Inez.
The family
suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity or flowers
may be sent.
Friends may call until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m. Wednesday at Flahiff Funeral Chapel of Nampa.
