Helena Lilly

    Services for Helena "Helen" Lilly, 71, of Parma, who died Sunday, April 13, at home of cancer, will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at the Dakan Funeral Chapel, Parma.
    Pastor Grant Francis of Parma's Trinity Lutheran Church will officiate.  Mrs. Lilly, a homemaker, was born May 17, 1914, at Rib Lake, Wis. to Carl Richard and Paulina Adolphina Schacht, the sixth of 10 children.  She was educated at the Mud Lake School near her home and graduated in May of 1928.
    She later moved to Walker Valley, Wash., with her family.  She married Robert J. Basford July 5, 1940.
    She worked for several years as a waitress for Fred Harvey restaurants in Arizona, New Mexico and California.
    She married Carl Edward Lilly July 19, 1946.
    They made their home in Parma, where she had since resided.
    She and her husband owned and operated the Parma Ice Co. for several years until his death Aug. 20, 1968.
    She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Parma.
    She was an avid rockhound and gardener.
    She is survived by two sons, Douglas Basford of Salmon and John Lilly of Parma ; two sisters, Wanda Peternel of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lydia Todd of Gallup, N.M.; four brothers, Paul Schacht of Zillah, Wash., James and Leonard Schacht of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Arthur Mitchell of Seattle; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Schacht; and a sister, Hermina "Patsy" Reinard.
    Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Parma; the Hospice Program at West Valley Medical Center, Caldwell; or to the Mountain States Tumor Institute, Boise, all in care of the Dakan Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 1386, Caldwell 83606.
    Friends may call today from 5-9 p.m. at the Dakan chapel.
