Pearl Lewis Pearl
L. Lewis, 90, of Notus, died Friday, December 31, 1993, at a
hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, January 4, 1994, at the Dakan Funeral Chapel,
Caldwell. Rev. Wayne F. Schuler, Pastor of the Middleton Baptist Church
will officiate. Services
will conclude at the chapel with a private family graveside
service at the Lower Boise Cemetery,
was born August 5, 1903, at
Minnesota, to Linus and Gustine
Small. In 1909, they
moved to the Ten Davis area where she attended elementary and
high school. After a
year at the College of Idaho
in 1921, she started teaching at Notus in 1922, returning to
college in 1923, and later took several summer courses to
further her education for her teaching certificate.
After teaching in Ten
Davis for 2 years she returned to Notus where she taught from
1926 to 1931 and from 1944 until her retirement in June of
retiring she continued to live in her home in Notus where she
enjoyed her gardening and roses, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and the many visits from former students.
She was a life-time
member of the Baptist Church, always active in the P.T.O.,
Grange, Notus Library and community projects.
a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Howard Kreiman of
Caldwell; a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Betty Lewis of
Middleton; a son, Earl Lewis of San Francisco, CA.; a brother
and sister-in-law, Milton and Muriel Small of Boise; 6
grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces,
nephews, cousins and hundreds of her "kids" she taught in
preceded in death by her mother and father, her infant baby
sister Hazel and her brother Lyle Small of Eugene, OR.
The family suggests
contributions to your favorite charity or a contribution may,
also be given to: The Pearl Lewis Memorial Fund, c/o West One
Bank, 607 E. Cleveland, Caldwell,
to be used for a permanent memorial to be placed at Notus School.
