Mr. King was born Feb. 22, 1913, at Great Falls, Mont.  He was reared and educated at Boys Town in Omaha, Neb.  He later returned to Great Falls for a short time before moving to Southern California.  In 1945 he invented the pickup camper as we know it today.  He owned and operated a RV plant in Southern California, where he manufactured several different RV products.  In 1959 he moved to Nampa where he owned and operated the Sport King Manufacturing plant.  He married Angeline Lavin in 1966.  In 1987 they moved to Boise to make their home.
Walter is survived by his wife, Angie King, Boise; a daughter, Sandra King Clark, Newport Beach, Calif.; two stepsons, Rick and Lorin Lavin, both of Boise; a sister, Della Purnell, Great Falls, Mont.; a brother, Michael King in Oregon; and a grandson, Beau King Brayton, Newport Beach.
The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
