Ernestine Marshall

    Ernestine Ada Marshall, 93, of Nampa, died on Thursday, Jan. 9, 1997, at home of natural causes.  Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997, at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.  Pastor Dan Wilson-Fey of the Southside Boulevard United Methodist Church will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
    Ernestine Ada Marshall was born on Aug. 5, 1903, in Boise, ID to Charles V. and Ada Patten Dennis.  In 1906 the family moved to Kuna, ID, where her parents homesteaded.  She attended schools at Happy Valley and Kuna, graduating from Kuna High School in 1921.  Following graduation she attended summer school in Boise, then taught at Mountain View, a one-room country school.
    She married Oliver Marshall on Dec 24, 1924, in Boise.  For a short time they lived in Toppenish, WA, then returned to Kuna to farm.  In 1941 they moved to the Lower Fairview Community, and in 1943 they moved to a farm west of Nampa where they resided until Oliver's death in 1989.  At that time she moved to Sunnyridge Retirement Center where she treasured her friendships.
    She was a devoted wife and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She loved the mountains and the cabin they built for all the family to enjoy.
    She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a former member of Starlight Club, the Orchard Avenue Club and United Methodist Women.
    Ernestine is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Helen Marshall, Twin Falls, ID; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Lorene and Gerald Guentz, Nampa, and Eloise and Fred Hershberger, Kenai, AK; 12 grandchildren, Howard Marshall, Portola Valley, CA, Wayne and Doug Marshall, Twin Palls, ID, Roger Marshall, Seattle, WA, Jean Giuffre, Eagle, ID, Gary, Bruce and Glen Hershberger and Julie Best, all of Kenai, AK, Kristin Sample, Nampa, Karen Fleming, Kuna, Janet Benoit, Boise; 24 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Lucille Dunkin, Nampa.
    She was also preceded in death by 3 brothers, Cecil, Forrest and Ray; a sister, Celia Dennis; and a grandson, Kenneth Marshall Jr.
    Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The family suggests memorials to the Southside Boulevard United Methodist Church, 5420 Southside Blvd., Nampa, ID 83686 or a favorite charity.
