Baxter Mervin

    Funeral services for Baxter R. Mervin, 70, of Nampa, who died Thursday, Jan. 16, in Nampa, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.  Bishop Craig M. Castagneto of Nampa will of ficiate.  Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell.
    Mr. Mervin was born on March 16, 1915, in Sweet to Charles and Jessie Kier Mervin.  He was reared and educated in the Treasure Valley.  After his schooling he worked in the potato packing plants in the Nampa area.  He married Fern M. Ellis on April 4, 1940, in Caldwell.  He contined working in the packing sheds until 1954 when he went to work for the city of Nampa.  He worked for the street department until his retirement in 1978, and the couple had resided in Nampa since that time.
    He is survived by his wife of Nampa; two daughters, Jean Garman and Karen Watson of Nampa; three sisters, Rosella Pettit of Nampa, Marcella White of Sunnyside, Wash., and Luella Ryder of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
    The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Home Health Care in care of the Mercy Medical Center, 1512 12th Ave. Road, Nampa, 83651, or flowers may be sent.  Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel today until 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 to 9 a.m.
