Joe Morfin
Services for Carl "Mike" Moffitt, 70, of Wilder, who died
Saturday, April 28, in his home, will be conducted at 10
a.m. Tuesday in Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Interment will follow in the Wilder
Cemetery.
Mr. Moffitt was
born Sept. 23, 1913, in Vale,
Ore., to James C. and Margaret Glenn
Morfitt. He moved
with his parents to Wilder in 1919 where his father operated
a retail store.
He graduated from Jerome High School
in 1931 and from the
University
of Idaho
in 1935 where he was a member of Sigma Mu fraternity.
Following
graduation from college, he worked at the First Security
Bank and with an accounting firm in Boise.
In 1937 he went to work for his father at Morfitt
Stores, Inc., which operated stores in Wilder, Homedale and
Marsing. He
became president and general manager of the firm in 1955 and
was associated with the stores until his death.
He married Leila
Gabbey on June 13, 1940, in
Boise
and the couple moved to Wilder in 1942 where they had since
resided.
He served two
terms on the Wilder City Council and was a former member of
the Wilder Chamber of Commerce.
He was a 40-year member of BPOE Lodge 1448 in
Caldwell.
He is survived by
his wife of Wilder; a son and daughter-in-law, James C. and
Jane Morfitt of Caldwell; a son, Michael G. Morfitt of
Boise; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard C. and Ann Morfitt
of Caldwell; his stepmother, Ila Bernice Morfitt of Boise; a
sister, Helen M. Durham of Boise; and two granddaughters,
Molly and Megan Morfitt, both of Caldwell.
He was preceded
in death by his parents.
Memorials may be
made to the Wilder Quick Response Unit; the
Golden Gate Baptist Church of Wilder; or to a
favority charity.
Friends may call at the Flahiff Funeral Chapel of
Caldwell today from 3 to 8 p.m.
