Charles Merriweather

    Services for Charles Efton Merriweather, 87, of Nampa, who died on Thursday, Oct. 15, at home, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 600 15th Ave. S.
    The Rev. Bob Miller, nephew, and the Revs. Jerry White and Vernon Wilcox of the church, will officiate.  Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
    Mr. Merriweather was born March 4, 1900, at Sheldon, Mo., to John and Mary Merriweather.  At the age of six, he moved with his family to Kansas, where he was reared and educated.  In 1925, he moved to Burbank, Calif.
    He married Sarah M. Burron July 1, 1926, in California, where they made their home.  
    In October 1926, he went to work for the Los Angeles Rapid Transit System, where he worked until 1965 with the exception of serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
    Mrs. Merriweather died in 1950.
    He married Catherine Viola Walker Aug. 10, 1963, in California, where they made their home until moving to Nampa in January 1977.
    He was a member of the Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, where he served as an usher for several years.
    He is survived by his wife of Nampa and a number of nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.
    Memorials may be made to the Nampa First Church of the Nazarene, 600 15th Ave. S., Nampa 83651; West Valley Medical Center Hospice Program, 171 Arlington, Caldwell 83605; or flowers may be sent.
