Edwin E. Newkirk
Funeral services for Edwin E. Newkirk, 87, of Parma
who died Wednesday, at a Boise nursing home will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the Kirkpatrick Memorial
Community Church, Parma, with the Rev. Paul Evans of the
church officiating, under the direction of Dakan Funeral
Chapel of Parma. Masonic Rites will be recited by the
Parma Lodge 49, AF and AM. Interment will be at
Roswell Cemetery, Roswell Idaho. He
was born July 28, 1895 in East Hampton, Mass., where was
raised and educated. He came west and took a forestry
course at the University of Idaho. and then worked for the
Potlatch Industry before goining the army in 1917.
After his discharge in 1919, he married Vinibel McCormick in
1924, at Roswell. In 1926 he bought the Roswell Store
which he owned and operated for a number of years. He
then went to work for the Boise National Forest, and in 1943
he went to work for the Parma Waterlifter Corp., where he
worked until his retirement in 1960. After his
retirement he lived in Parma until the time of his death.
Mrs. Newkirk died in 1978. He was a member of the
Kirkpatrick Memorial Community Church in Parma, and a
50-year member of the Parma Lodge 49, AF and AM.
He survived by two daughters, Mrs. Patricia Wild of Boise,
Mrs. Joan Ross of Kimberling City, Mo., five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Kirkpatrick Memorial Community
Church, Parma.
