Rex Nelson
Graveside services for Rex Laval Nelson, 67, of 1320 W.
Flamingo Ave., Nampa, who died Tuesday, March 29, in a Boise
hospital of natural causes, will be conducted at Hillcrest
Memorial Gardens, Nampa at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev.
Howard Olsen of the First Church of the Nazarene, Nampa,
will officiate, under the direction of Chapel of the Chimes,
Meridian. Friends may meet at the cemetery.
He was born March 27, 1916, to Carl and Arvilla Nelson in
Blackfoot, Idaho, where he was reared and educated. He
worked as a police officer for the City of Blackfoot until
enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1942. He served as a
Corporal in the 20th Armored Division in the European,
Mid-Eastern and African Theatre during WWII. In 1946,
he re-entered law enforcement for the State of Idaho in
Special Services and retired as an Arson Investigator in
1976. He married Kathryn Ball on Nov. 4, 1951 in Elko,
Nev. He was a lifetime member of the Idaho Peace
Officers Association and lifetime member of the Idaho-Oregon
Peace Officers Association. He is
survived by his wife of Nampa; one son, Larry Nelson of
Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Van Dora Plant of
Blackfoot and Mrs. Dion Burgen of Firth; one brother, Lowell
Nelson of Portland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and his parents.
